Description
Astonishing records and the enchanting beauty of natural landmarks - Ukraine never ceases to amaze the world. In one of its urban gems - the city of Dnipro (formerly known as Dnipropetrovsk) - lies the longest embankment in Europe, impressing with its grandeur and beauty.
The Dnipro Embankment is a true gem of the city, a favourite place for walks among local residents and tourists. Stretching for over thirty kilometers, it runs along the picturesque river, with its central part adorned by a charming green boulevard that gives it a unique character and charm. The history of the embankment dates back to the 1950s when this area was not yet developed. Between 2005 and 2007, a massive reconstruction completely transformed the Dnipro Embankment: the old asphalt was replaced with beautiful pavement, the road surface was repaired, and modern lighting systems added a special charm to the evening city.
The vast number of flowers and green plantings make a walk along the embankment a visual delight. Over seven thousand chrysanthemum bushes, forty tree species, including rare globe and pyramidal yews, pines, and junipers, make this area unique for the region. Everyone can find something special for themselves on the Dnipro Embankment. The central part has two terraces, upper and lower, which create perfect conditions for strolling and relaxation. One of the most interesting features of the renovated embankment is the light-music fountain "White Swan," located on the river's surface across from the "Dnipropetrovsk" hotel.
Modern laser technology allows for creation unique abstract compositions and figures, while the fountain "spreads its wings," and water jets rise to a height of more than fifty meters, captivating the audience. Equally charming are the "Family Bench," "Lovers' Bench," and "Tree of Happiness," created by local blacksmiths and placed on the embankment for the City Day, offering residents and guests special moments. On the embankment, you can also find the Dnipropetrovsk Circus, located on Sicheslavska Naberezhna Street, 33. Its architecture, made of shiny metal, adds a sense of enchantment to the city, especially when illuminated in the evening. Dnipro's appeal is also enhanced by its wonderful bridges that connect the right and left banks of the river. One of them, the Merefo-Kherson Railway Bridge, is noted for its beauty and elegance. Near the Central Bridge, there is the sculpture "Youth of the Dnipro," which has gained popularity among the local population.
